Vladislav Namestnikov, Detroit Red Wings
Will Vladislav Namestnikov be added to the list of Detroit Red Wings lost in NHL expansion drafts?

A member of the Detroit Red Wings will soon be an inaugural member of the Seattle Kraken. Protected lists are due at 5 p.m. ET today from 30 NHL teams (the Vegas Golden Knights are exempt) for the July 21 NHL expansion draft that will stock the roster of the incoming Kraken.

Will it be Dennis Cholowski? Evgeny Svechnikov? Vladislav Namestnikov? Danny DeKeyser? Gustav Lindstrom? Troy Stecher?

Whoever it is, the player selected will gain membership in an exclusive club that includes two future Hockey Hall of Famers, a guy who was lost twice, a player who played for three NHL first-year teams, a current member of Congress and Anthony Mantha’s grandfather.

Let’s look back at the players who became ex-Red Wings during previous NHL expansion drafts.
