Will Jakub Vrana team with Dylan Larkin and Tyler Bertuzzi on Detroit's top forward line this season?

Lines. Those who fish cast them, actors memorize them and hockey coaches juggle them.

Long gone are the days when famous like Detroit’s Production Line, Montreal’s Punch Line and the GAG Line of the New York Rangers were kept together for seasons on end.

In today’s NHL, forward lines are a lot like shaky public WiFi connections. They could break up or be gone at a moment’s notice.

That being said, NHL coaches set out to assemble their forward units with the best-laid plans and best intentions. This season, for the first time in many years, Detroit Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill will go into the season with actual viable options at his disposal for his forward units.

There are possibilities galore. Let’s line them up and see how they all might shake out.
