Red Wings’ prospects, minus Seider, will compete in Rookie Tournament in Traverse City

Red Wings' 2020 first round pick Lucas Raymond will be the headliner on Detroit's roster for the NHL Prospects Tournament

Lucas Raymond, Jonatan Berggren and Joe Veleno are the headliners on the Detroit Red Wings’ team that compete at the 2021 NHL Prospect Tournament in Traverse City from Sept. 16-20. Each of those players has a shot at making the Detroit roster this season.

Defenseman Moritz Seider, the Red Wings’ No. 1 prospect, is not competingin the tournament. He is considered a lock to make the Red Wings this season.

The Red Wings’ goalies are prize prospect Sebastian Cossa, plus Jan Bednar and Victor Brattstrom. Cossa was a first-round pick this year.

Defensemen Jared McIsaac and Wyatt Newpower, with outside shots at making the Red Wings, are also on the roster. Others of note: Chris Hanas, Donovan Sebrango, Chase Pearson, Hayden Verbeek, Kirill Tyutyavev and  Alex Cotton.

Detroit’s squad will compete against teams put together by the Columbus Blue Jackets, St. Louis Blues, Dallas Stars and Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Red Wings will play Dallas on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.. Their next game is Saturday,  Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. They will play Columbus Sunday a 6 p.m.
