Pittsburgh: The Penguins have an aptly named new helmet sponsor. More importantly, Sidney Crosby talked to TSN about his wrist surgery. He confirmed that he won’t miss much time and surgery was the last resort. 

Washington: Russian Machine Never Breaks reports that  a box club, partially owned by Washington tough guy Tom Wilson,  is opening its first franchise in Pittsburgh.

Chicago: Marc-Andre Fleury talked retirement to Sportsnet, admitting he could retire after the 2021-22 season. He laughed when he said it, but Fleury knows the end is near.

Toronto:  The Toronto Maple Leafs, according to the Toronto Sun, invited Nikita Gusev into camp for a tryout. 

NHL:  Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said  at the National Media Days that he expected the salary cap to rise by $1 million next season.
