Swedish forward Jonatan Berggren,  a possibility to make the Detroit  Red Wings roster this season,  was injured in the first period of a game against the St. Louis Blues at the NHL Prospect Tournament Saturday.

“I have not had a chance to talk to Josh Chapman our trainer so I have no diagnosis or time frame with him,”  said Ben Simon, the Grand Rapids Griffins coach who is coaching the Detroit Rookies

In the first period Berggren, 21, left the ice doubled over, and then returned to play. But he did not come out for the second period.

Detroit forward Patrick Curry (Grand Rapids Griffins) was also injured.

Berggren, a 2018 second-round draft pick, finished in a tie for seventh in the Swedish Elite League scoring race last season.  He handles the puck extremely well, and the Red Wings are planning to give him a chance to make the Detroit roster.
