The Daily: Why Defenseman Nick Leddy isn’t on Trade Bait List

Latest trade bait list doesn't have a single Detroit Red Wings player. Shouldn't Nick Leddy be on the list?

Frank Seravelli published his trade bait list at Dailyfaceoff.com. It has the usual suspects: Phil Kessel, Evander Kane, Jake DeBrusk and Vladimir Tarasenko.

But the trade bait list has no Red Wings.

Shouldn’t defensepman Nick Leddy be on that trade bait list? He is going to be an unrestricted free agent, and the Red Wings are rebuilding.  Thomas Greiss and Marc Staal are other possibilities

But probably not now. The Red Wings are trying to stay competitive. They believe that’s important for their young players and Leddy is helping them do that. You can’t rule out Leddy ending up as a trade candidate. But not now, with the Red Wings playing better than expected. Same is true for Greiss and Staal.
