The Detroit Red Wings have tried Michael Rasmussen both at center and wing, admitting to internal discussions over which role suits him best.

While rightfully reveling in the success stories that are rookie sensations Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond, Detroit Red Wings fans would do well to remember that this dynamic duo is the exception and not the rule.

Generally, it takes newcomers a bit of time to figure out the league and where they fit into the structure of an NHL roster.

Exhibit A, B and C – Joe Veleno, Filip Zadina and Michael Rasmussen, Detroit’s three first-round picks prior to Raymond and Seider. There still remain more questions than answers in the case of each of this trio of players.
