It’s not difficult to find NHL scouts who remember the smothering defensive game Jake Walman played against future NHL star Jack Eichel in Providence’s 4-3 win against Boston University in the 2015 NCAA championship game.

Walman was in beast mode, doing everything he could do to slow down Eichel. On that day, Walman looked he could become a top four NHL defenseman.

Seven years later, scouts are still waiting for Walman to be that player again.
