TSN’s Pierre LeBrun  says the Montreal Canadiens may trade defenseman Jeff Petry. Lebrun lists the Detroit Red Wings as a possible destination.  A deal isn’t a certainty because Petry’s contract has a modified no-trade clause.

The Canadiens are in reset mode. They are trying to maintain a level of competitiveness while developing younger players. The Habs recently acquired Evgenii Dadonov from the Vegas Golden Knights while moving out Shea Weber’s contract.

Talking about a trade is a long way from completing a deal. But here  pros and cons about the potential of the Red Wings trading for Petry:
