Alex Ovechkin signed a one-game contract to play soccer for the FC Moscow Dynamo and promptly scored in a game against FC Amkal.

Ovechkin is playing as a striker. The goal was legitimate. Check out the video replay below.

The Washington Capitals captain, 36, boasts 780 NHL goals and one goal in Russia’s top soccer league. Given the potential risk of injury, this is probably the end of Ovechkin’s pro soccer career.

Ovechkin now needs just 115 goals to break Wayne Gretzky’s NHL record for most career goals.

Also, the ESPN documentary on the Detroit Red Wings-Colorado Avalanche rivalry debuted on Saturday.  A big crowd showed up at Little Caesars Arena to see a sneak preview.

The documentary is well-received on social media.
