While the offseason is now in full swing, the Detroit Red Wings added their preseason schedule to the mix.

With another wave of young promising players arriving for the 2022-23 season, the preseason schedule will give fans a glimpse of what players will be on the final roster.

It is also an eight game schedule–with the date for a road game against Chicago still to be set.

Red Wings Top Prospects Could Stand Out

Last season, it was Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond separating themselves from the pack early, showing they belonged in the NHL. Both remained with the big club the entire season. Seider, of course, recently was named the NHL’s Top Rookie. Raymond had a stellar year as well, garnering votes for the same award.

Now the eight-game slate could solidify spots for prospects like Jonatan Berggren, and Simon Edvinsson. Other talents like Elmer Soderblom and Albert Johansson may very well knock at the door as well.

Will they make the opening night roster?  Can any of those prospects see the same success as Seider and Raymond?

Regardless of what the final determination is, it will be an exciting time for Red Wings fans as the roster should be flush with young, promising talent.

Red Wings Will Also Have a Brand New Head Coach

Beyond the prospects, the Red Wings will be handing the reins over to a new coach. His identity could be known soon. It’s already been reported that Detroit has met with Derek Lalonde while not reaching out for up and coming coach Ryan Warsofsky, fresh off of a Calder Cup championship with the AHL Chicago Wolves.

It will certainly be a busy few weeks for the Red Wings and general manager Steve Yzerman. Many of those decisions will be on full display during the preseason.
