The Daily: Sharks Coach Quinn Thinks Red Wings Lalonde Has Perfect Face For Radio

David Quinn, San Jose Sharks coach

According to an online poll, Detroit Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde is the third-most handsome coach in the NHL. Meanwhile, David Quinn of the San Jose Sharks is coming in 29th on the 32-coach handsome depth chart.

Neither coach is buying it.

“If David Quinn is at the bottom and I’m at the top, that’s a bad, bad list,” Lalonde suggested.

Quinn wasn’t so much worried about his finish as he was appalled by the thought of Lalonde being No. 3 on the list.

“I know Derek Lalonde,” Quinn chuckled. “He ain’t No. 3. There’s a 3 in there, but there’s another number after it. Please quote me.”

Just to be clear, Quinn and Lalonde are close friends. Their relationship is much like the one that exists between former Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill and Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper. It’s all good-natured ribbing.
