The Daily: Oilers’ Kane Injured in Scary Skate Cut; Slafkovsky Facing Supplementary Discipline for Hit on Red Wings Luff?
Evander Kane suffers significant blood loss after being cut by skate
Hospital officials in Tampa were listing Edmonton Oilers winger Evander Kane in stable condition after undergoing surgery to repair damage to his left wrist. Kane’s wrist was slashed by the skate blade of Tampa Bay Lightning forward Pat Maroon during Tuesday’s game between the two teams.
In a puck battle along the boards not far from the benches, Maroon wound up accidentally stepping on Kane’s wrist, cutting him open. Bleeding profusely, Kane jumped to his feet and was screaming for help as he was racing toward the Edmonton bench.
Kane Requiring Surgery
Oilers GM Ken Holland was later telling reporters that while Kane was requiring surgery, the prognosis was that he was going to be okay.
