Brady is the Tkachuk brother to lose to the Red Wings since March of 2020.

The Detroit Red Wings rang in the New Year by finally beating the Ottawa Senators. Saturday’s 4-2 victory at Little Caesars Arena was ending an 0-4-1 overall skid and an 0-3 slump on home ice for Detroit.

The triumph also brought to a halt another little-known Detroit slump. It had been nearly three years since the Red Wings got the better of a member of the Tkachuk family.

Brady of the Ottawa Senators and brother Matthew of the Florida Panthers were rolling along on a combined nine-game winning streak when facing the Red Wings prior to Saturday’s outcome.

Matthew won 5-1 with his new club the Florida Panthers on December 8. Prior to that, he was on the winning side for three games with the Calgary Flames. Brady and the Senators were winners of five in a row against Detroit prior to Saturday’s loss.

The prior victory by the Red Wings over a Tkachuk family member came when Detroit downed Brady and the Senators 3-2 in a shootout on January 10, 2020.

Griffins, Vrana Go 0-3

The conditioning stint of Red Wings forward Jakub Vrana came to an end on Saturday without a victory or a point. Vrana and the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins were dropping a 4-2 decision to the Milwaukee Admirals at Van Andel Arena.

Pontus Andreasson and Brian Lashoff scored for GR.
