The Daily: Red Wings prospect Cossa added to ECHL All-Star Game; Vrana back in for GR
Former Red Wings Helm suffers injury setback
Jake Kupsky’s good fortune is also proving beneficial to Detroit Red Wings prospect Sebastian Cossa. Firstly, the Vancouver Canucks were this week recalling goaltender Kupsky to the AHL Abbotsford Ice. Secondly, that meant a spot was opening up on the ECHL All-Star Game rosters. Cossa was picked to fill that spot.

Cossa was the 15th player chosen in the 2021 NHL entry draft. He is currently fourth in minutes played among all ECHL goaltenders with 1,260. His rookie pro season has seen Cossa posting a 10-11-1 record with a 2.91 goals against average and a .895 save percentage. Cossa, 20, is 5-3-0 in his last eight starts. That’s including three straight wins from December 10-17.
The ECHL All-Star Classic is slated for Monday at Norfolk Scope Arena.
Vrana Returns To Action For Griffins
Jakub Vrana was back in the lineup Saturday for the Grand Rapids Griffins. He’d been sitting out two games as a healthy scratch. Vrana managed one shot on goal. Alex Nedeljkovic, on a conditioning assignment from Detroit, was posting a 27-save shutout over the Chicago Wolves. Cross Hanas netted the only goal.
The Griffins were also reassigning defenseman Donovan Sebrango to the ECHL Walleye.
