A familiar face to Red Wings fans was an injury away from opposing Detroit on Sunday in Toronto. When Maple Leafs goalie Matt Murray left the game after suffering an injury in a collision with Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond, former Red Wings netminder Curtis Joseph was called into action as the emergency backup goaltender (EBUG).

Cameras did catch Joseph trundling through the bowels of Scotiabank Arena, carrying his hockey bag over his shoulder like a beer leaguer. He donned his gear and remained in the Leafs dressing room for the remainder of the game. Ilya Samsonov finished in the Toronto net as Detroit won 5-2.

While best remembered for his time in Toronto, Joseph tended goal for the Red Wings from 2002-04.

Amadeus At It Again

The Flint Firebirds beat the Saginaw Spirit 5-4 in overtime in Game 3 of their OHL opening-round playoff series on Monday. Saginaw leads the best-of-seven series 2-1.

Red Wings prospect Amadeus Lombardi netted the fourth goal for Flint. The OHL gave it recognition as their play of the night.
