Detroit Red Wings
The Daily: Walleye 8-0 in Playoffs; Kyle Dubas to Pittsburgh?
The Toledo Walleye needed the broom again Friday night when they downed the Cincinnati Cyclones 9-2 to complete their second sweep in the ECHL’s Kelly Cup playoffs. Red Wings prospect goalie John Lethemon made 23 saves to raise the Walleye record to 8-0 in the postseason.
The Walleye, using five Red Wings’ prospects, are having a remarkable run. Sebastian Cossa is rotating with Lethemon in net, while Seth Barton, Donovan Sebrango and Eemil Viro are playing on the Toledo defense.
Barton, 23, (drafted 81st overall in 2018) had two assists in the game to give him nine points in the Walleye’s eight playoff games. He will be a restricted free agent this summer.
Toledo’s coach Dan Watson seems like a good candidate for the vacant Grand Rapids Griffins’ coaching job.
The Walleye will play either the Allen Americans or Idaho Steelheads in the conference final. The Americans are an affiliate for the Ottawa Senators.

Red Wings’ Offseason
Because the Florida Panthers beat the Toronto Maple Leafs to qualify for the Eastern Conference Finals, they moved down in the draft order. That means Red Wings’ second first-round pick goes from No. 18 to No. 17. The Red Wings picked up that pick from the Vancouver Canucks in the Filip Hronek deal. The Canucks had acquired it from the Islanders in the Bo Horvat deal.
