Jonathan Marchessault is now keeping company with former Detroit Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman.

The Golden Knights didn’t beat the Florida Panthers for a third successive game in the Stanley Cup final on Thursday, but Vegas forward Marchessault did score for the third game in a row. He’s only the fifth player in the past 40 years to tally in each of the first three games of a Stanley Cup final series.

Among this select group is Yzerman. He registered a goal in each of the first three games of the 1997 Cup final series as the Red Wings were sweeping the Philadelphia Flyers.

All three of Marchessault’s goals have come on the power play. He’s the first player to net power-play markers in each of the first three games of the Stanley Cup final since Dick Duff of the Montreal Canadiens in 1969.
