The Daily: Bertuzzi On List of UFAs to Avoid; Petry Back

Pittsburgh Hockey Now’s Dan Kingerski has a list of unrestricted free agents that the Pittsburgh Penguins need to avoid: former Red Wings player Tyler Bertuzzi is No. 1 on his list.
Kingerski’s story points out Bertuzzi put up 30 goals for the Red Wings in 2021-22, but hasn’t been able to recreate that, even this season when he played with Toronto’s highly skilled players.
The Maple Leafs would like to re-sign Bertuzzi. Getting some term is probably most important to Bertuzzi. He’s 29 now.
“The Bertuzzi name and potential will raise the bidding,” Kingerski wrote. “A 40-point LW is worth about $5 million, but he will likely command more on a long-term deal. The Penguins would be better off calling an old friend who’s lighting it up in Carolina.”
“Buyer beware.”
