The Daily: Edvinsson Injured Late in Griffins Win; Trade Rumor
Detroit Red Wings prospects were in the spotlight Friday when the Grand Rapids Griffins produced a four-goal third period outburst to rally to a 4-2 win against the Milwaukee Admirals. The deciding game in the best-of-five Central Division Final will be Sunday (6 p.m. ET) in Milwaukee.
The Admirals could have ended the series, but Jonatan Berggren scored three third period goals to key the comeback win. Sebastian Cossa also played impressively in the net, stopping 30 of 32 shots. He blanked the Admirals on 3:11 minutes of five-on-three power play time. Carter Mazur had two assists and Marco Kasper had one.
Red Wings top prospect Simon Edvinsson did return to the lineup Friday, but didn’t play the final six minutes of the game because of an injury. No information was provided about the injury, including whether it was related to his previous injury.
“He was down the tunnel, hopefully nursing a minor injury,” Coach Dan Watson said. “So he wasn’t available the last six or seven minutes of the game.”
This has been a physical series, and the Admirals went hard after Edvinsson in Game 4.

Red Wings Offseason
GM Steve Yzerman was in Grand Rapids Friday night to see the Griffins’ entertaining come-from-behind triumph against Milwaukee in Game 4 of their playoff series. Yzerman witnessed strong games from Jonatan Berggren, Carter Mazur and Marco Kasper. All of them have a shot at playing in the NHL next season. Cossa was also sharp. He seems destined to play next season as Griffins’ No. 1 goalie. He turns 22 in November. You don’t see many 22-year-old NHL goalies.
