The Daily: All Marner Options on the Table?; Mickey, Daniels on Top
This week’s NHL scouting combine isn’t just about looking at prospects for the NHL draft later this month. Plenty of trades and signings start at the combine with meetings between general managers, or a GM and an agent. The Mitch Marner name probably came up often.
TSN’s Pierre LeBrun was at the combine this week and talked to Toronto GM Brad Treliving about Marner. LeBrun said Treliving said everything is still on the table when it comes to Marner. What that means to him is there could be a trade or Marner could be at training camp ready to play for the Maple Leafs.
There could even be an extension.
That makes sense when you consider that Marner controls all of this because he has a full no-movement clause.
But in an interview on a TSN show, LeBrun said teams executives and agents gather plenty of information at the NHL scouting combine and many likely have a better idea about Marner’s and the Maple Leafs’ desires. LeBrun said it was evident that Treliving talked with several GMs at the event.
Does it mean, Marner could be presented with a trade to consider soon?
