The Daily: Laine Landing Spots Reviewed; Wings High on Crusher
The speculation about where Patrik Laine may land is probably going to be more entertaining than the trade that moves the Columbus forward to another team.
The Score’s five potential destinations include Pittsburgh, Colorado, Vegas, Seattle and Buffalo. Score writer Josh Wegman lists the Penguins as the best fit for Laine, and Colorado as No 2. Vegas and Buffalo are presented as the longer shots.
It doesn’t seem like any deal is imminent.
“There’s no guarantee that Laine gets moved,” Wegman writes. “After all, between injuries and entering the program in January, he was limited to just 18 games in 2023-24, and he registered a measly nine points. He missed 53 contests due to injury in the two prior seasons, too. His $8.7-million cap hit – for the next two campaigns – is a big number for teams to absorb, especially at this point in the offseason.”
While Patrik Laine is now able to talk to other teams regarding a trade, a move from the #BlueJackets doesn't appear imminent: https://t.co/CDCJZpga2s
