The Daily: Ovechkin Barely Makes Top 20; Sandin Pellikka Update
Seeing Alex Ovechkin listed as the 19th best winger on the NHL Network ranking certainly gets our attention. Ovechkin does turn 39 next month. But he did put up 31 goals last season.
“While there are many great wingers in the NHL, is Ovechkin ranked too low on this list? Should he have been higher?,” writes Washington Hockey Now’s Nathan Moser. “I can understand Capitals fans who believe he should be ranked higher than 19 on this list. There is an important aspect to this list though in regard to Ovechkin.
Added Moser: “These rankings are a fun activity for NHL Network to put out to gear up for this upcoming season. No matter where he ranks on their top winger list, he is still a crucial member to Washington’s offense. The 2024-25 season is almost upon us. With that, fans will see how Ovechkin does offensively and how many wins the Capitals get as a team.
