Pavel Datsyuk, former Red Wings

Not everyone is celebrating Pavel Datsyuk’s induction into the Hall of Fame. But he will receive the love from his former Detroit Red Wings team and fans this season.

Bob Duff recently wrote a story about how the Canadian Ukrainian Congress recently criticized the Hockey Hall of Fame for the timing of inducting Russian player Datsyuk when his country is still in the midst of invading Ukraine. Former Red Wings player Dominik Hasek also has criticized the timing of the Datsyuk induction. No one is disputing whether Datsyuk is worthy of induction, but believe it is disrespectful to induct him now.

Datsyuk Hockey Hall of Fame Night will be celebrated at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday, Nov. 21 against the New York Islanders.

Datsyuk, one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players of All Time, played for Detroit from 2001 to 2016, winning Stanley Cups in 2002 and 2008. The first 5,000 fans in attendance that night will receive a limited-edition Pavel Datsyuk Commemorative Coin.

Patrick Kane will be among the Detroit players chasing milestones this season.

Former Red Wings goalie Harry Lumley holds multiple NHL records that may never be broken.

Bob Duff looks at the worst UFA signings in Detroit’s history. It goes beyond the Stephen Weiss deal.
