The Daily: Did Red Wings Offer Larionov a Job?; MBN Surging

We always wondered why teams never offered Igor Larionov an NHL job. We should have been wondering why Igor Larionov didn’t want an NHL job.

Bob Duff has a story this week about Larionov admitting he has had more than one opportunity to return to the NHL, even though he did not say which teams made the offers. Nor did he say what kind of jobs he was offered.

It seems like Larionov has unfinished business.

“I’m in Torpedo, and I’m very glad that I’m in the city where my mother was born, a city with deep hockey traditions,” Larionov said. “That’s the most important thing.

“If you started a project that is at the very beginning of its journey, it is not correct to leave it in relation to the team and the fans. Therefore, this issue is closed for now.”

The question now is whether the Red Wings ever offered Larionov a job. It’s not like GM Steve Yzerman is going to tell us.
