Jakub Vrana, Red Wings

Nathan Moser of Washington Hockey Now writes that Andrew Cristall and former Red Wings player Jakub Vrana are “both standout options for Washington to make the 23-man group.”

He says their quest to earn a roster spot is “one of the interesting training camp battles for Washington Capitals fans to keep an eye on as the team gets closer to finalizing their roster.”

Moser writes that “both have fought hard during the camp and in the preseason.”

Vrana has a goal and an assists in four games. In one game, he didn’t score, but posted six shots on goal.

“Forward Jakub Vrana has been a great story in training camp,” Moser wrote. “He was a fan favorite and beloved teammate of the Capitals for parts of five seasons. He was a member of the 2018 Stanley Cup team.”

Moser doesn’t make a prediction about whether Vrana will make the team, but clearly he has a chance.

Vrana played 42 games for Detroit over three seasons, and scored 22 goals. He can be a dymanic offensive force.

Red Wings In Case You Missed It

The Red Wings may improve defensively and their goaltending may be more consistent, but it may not matter if they don’t score enough goals. They didn’t find the net in a 2-0 loss to the Maple Leafs.
