The Daily: Macklin ‘Questionable’ for Sharks Tonight; Talbot Starting

Macklin Celebrini’s NHL career is one game old and already he is dealing with an injury. He’s questionable for the San Jose Sharks’ game against Anaheim tonight.

The Sharks haven’t said whether this a lingering issue from the preseason or whether it is a new injury suffered in his NHL debut. He scored his first goal and added an assist in a 5-4 overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues. The only detail coach Ryan Warsofsky has provided is that it’s a “lower body” injury.

Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reported he missed the final 3:42 of regulation in that game, but did return to play in overtime.

With defenseman Jeff Petry out day-to-day, Justin Holl will be recalled today from Grand Rapids.

Detroit’s next game is tonight at Little Caesars Arena against the Nashville Predators (7 p.m., Bally Sports).  The Predators’ season-opening 4-3 loss to Dallas in Nashville spoiled Steven Stamkos’ and Jonathan Marchessault’s debut in a Predators jersey. Prospect report: Emmitt Finnie (201st, 2023) showed an assist in the Kamloops Blazers’ 3-1 loss to the Seattle. Finnie has three points in three WHL this season.
