The Daily: Red Wings Play NYI in Frozen Frenzy; Wallinder Update

The Detroit Red Wings will not be alone tonight when they resume NHL action with a road game against the New York Islanders. Every other NHL team is playing as part of what the league calls the “Frozen Frenzy.”
All 16 games will be televised on ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN+. The first game starts at 6 p.m., ET and a new game will start every 15 minutes. The final game, between the Los Angeles Kings and Vegas Golden Knights, will begin at 11 p.m.
The night will include an ESPN in-studio whip-around show with live look-ins and highlights from around the league. John Buccigross is the host, and former NHLers Kevin Weekes and P.K. Subban will share analyst duties.
This will be the fourth time the NHL has had all 16 teams play on the same night. Last season, the 16 games of the inaugural Frozen Frenzy generated 102 goals. That’s an average of 6.375 goals per game.
All 16 games tonight have a different start time – an NHL first after two games coincided during Frozen Frenzy last year – including a puck drop every 15 minutes across 13 games over a three-hour span (from 6:30 p.m. ET to 9:30 p.m. ET). pic.twitter.com/JLn8e6dgJC

Red Wings In Case You Missed It
GM Steve Yzerman was happy to see Dimitry Buchelnikov in the flesh this summer.
Detroit prospect defenseman William Wallinder has taken his game to a higher level for the Grand Rapids Griffins in the early going.
Bally Sports is no more. The Red Wings broadcast rights holder is now FanDuel Sports Network. The channels and the app remain the same.
Red Wings Extra
The Red Wings will appear on the newly-named FanDuel Sports Network tonight (formerly Bally) starting at 7:45. We expect Alex Lyon to be in net for Detroit and Marco Kasper in the lineup for the injured Tyler Motte. But we will know more after the morning skate.
Steven Stamkos is stopped by Alex Lyon’s incredible stick save. Stamkos still has yet to score for the Predators.
