Red Wings vs. Devils: Notes, Lines, Goalies, How to Watch

After a pair of road wins, the Detroit Red Wings are back at .500 (3-3) going into tonight’a home game with the New Jersey Devils.

Alex Lyon, who seems to be an afterthought every offseason who plays himself into a key role during the regular season, has won the last two games in net for the Red Wings

Coach Derek Lalonde said Cam Talbot will start tonight because he wants to get both goalies going. There might also be a callup later in the day because of the flu that is rampant in the locker room. If they need to call up a forward, Justin Holl would be sent down, at least for the day.

Tyler Motte won’t be in the lineup. He’s out with an upper-body injury.

But, with those two consecutive wins under their belts, the Wings hope that force is with them on Star Wars Night at Little Caesars Arena.

The Devils started the season hot, beating Buffalo twice in Europe and four of their first five. But they’ve cooled off since then, losing three of four, including an 8-5 decision to Tampa Bay on Tuesday. The Devils seemed to deflate after Tampa’s Erik Cernak laid a big hit on Jesper Bratt with no retaliation from the Devils.

The Lightning went on to score five goals in the next 10 minutes to put the game away.
