Red Wings Must Fix Problems During Three-Game Win Streak (+)

Plenty is going right for the Red Wings in their three-game winning streak, led by Detroit goaltenders owning a .921 team save percentage. That ranks sixth in the NHL.

The Red Wings and Dallas Stars are the only two teams that already boasts two shutouts. After spending all of training camp talking about improved team defense, they are ninth (2.86) in GAA. Last season, they were 24th. Simon Edvinsson’s development into a top pairing defenseman has helped. The eye test suggests the players are more committed to keeping the puck out of their zone.

Their 5-on-5 defense is much improved over last season.  The Red Wings have gone 171:12 without allowing a five-on-five goal.
