Detroit Red Wings prospect Axel Sandin Pellikka did it again. The sensational defenseman was netting a highlight-reel goal to snap a 4-4 tie, scoring the winner in what would be a 6-4 Skelleftea AIK SHL victory over Farjestad.
The player chosen 17th overall by Detroit in the 2023 NHL entry draft was gathering the puck behind his own net. With a burst of speed, Sandin Pellikka would dart his way through the entire Farjestad squad before zipping a tight angle shot high inside the par post behind goalie Damian Clara.

“I felt that I got a little time to ride and then there was a small chip and I managed to brush it in somehow,” Sandin Pellikka was explaining to Sweden’s TV4 after the game. “The idea was at first that I should look at freezing their guy, but when I see that he continues to close the drop, I will gladly take the third that comes there.
“Game winners are not so playful to do. So it was damn nice.”
It was Sandin Pellikka’s fifth goal of the season. He was also collecting two assists during the game. Through 13 games, the 19 year old is showing 5-8-13 totals. Those numbers are leading all SHL defensemen. He’s also averaging 20:45 minutes of ice time per game.
The victory would move reigning SHL champions Skelleftea back to the top of the league table.
Red Wings Pick On Board
Forward Michael Brandsegg-Nygard was also scoring in the game for Skelleftea. It was the first goal of the season for the player Detroit was choosing 15th overall in the 2024 NHL entry draft.

Trailing 3-1 early in the third period, Brandsegg-Nygard would launch the Skelleftea rally by making in 3-2. Sandin Pellikka drew an asisst on Brandsegg-Nygard’s initial SHL tally. Skelleftea would score three times in the game’s final 79 seconds to garner the victory.
