Grand Rapids Griffins Continue to Pile Up Points
The Grand Rapids Griffins earned at least one point for the sixth consecutive game, despite losing a 3-2 overtime game on the road to the Hartford Wolf Pack.
Hartford erased a two-goal Griffins lead to pull out the win. Former Detroit Red Wings assistant general manager Ryan Martin is the Hartford GM and New York Rangers’ Assistant GM. The Grand Rapids GM is Shawn Horcoff who is one of the Red Wings’ assistant GMs.
By earning a point, the Griffins (6-1-1-0, 13 points) did tie franchise record for most points after eight games. The Griffins earned seven out of eight points on their four-game road trip, which included wins on three consecutive days.
Detroit prospect goalie Sebastian Cossa made 28 saves against Hartford. Cossa, who will play the majority of games this season for Grand Rapids, is 4-1-1 with a 1.79 GAA and .945 save percentage.
Pinckney native Dominik Shine scored both of Detroit’s goals. Detroit prospect defenseman Antti Tuomisto assisted on one of them to give him a three-game points streak. Shai Buium, another prospect defenseman, also picked up his second assist of the season. He signed with the Red Wings late last season, and played one game with the Griffins.
The Griffins’ next game is Friday at home against Rockford (7 p.m.).
