It’s not so much that he was hit then it was how he was hit that’s leaving Detroit Red Wings forward Tyler Motte in a sour mood.

“I didn’t like the hit, to be honest with you,” Motte said. He’s been an absentee from the Detroit the past seven games after absorbing a hit from New York Rangers defenseman Victor Mancini in at Oct. 19 game at Little Caesars Arena.

As Motte readies his return to the lineup, does that mean Mancini would be advised to keep his head up with the same two teams clash on Saturday at LCA?

Not according to Motte. He insists that there’s no hard feelings.

“Not that it was dirty or with ill will, just high,” Motte said of Mancini’s hit. “Anything to the head I think is unfortunate. You worry not just about yourself but anyone, no matter what team you’re on. Unfortunate, maybe.

“But that’s hockey, you’re going to get hits, things are going to happen. No hard feelings about it, just kind of an unfortunate result.”

Red Wings Will Decide When Motte Plays Again

Motte feels he’s ready to be back in action on Wednesday as the Red Wings travel to Chicago to face the Blackhawks. At the same time, he knows that’s not his call to make.

“Not a question for me, unfortunately,” Motte said. “I feel good, but a lot more people involved than just me.”

That being the case, it’s not a scenario he spends much time pondering during his day.

“It’s unfortunate,” Motte said. “You can only control what you can control, take it day by day. Let the staff know how you’re feeling and a lot of those things are out of your control.

“It’s for your best interest and the best interest of the team but it doesn’t make it any easier.”
