The Daily: Flyers Trade Rumors; Talbot In Net Tonight
The Philadelphia Flyers will likely trade defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen and a report says they want a first round draft pick or the equivalent in return.
Faceoff.com published the original report about Ristolainen’s trade potential. At 30, Ristolainen isn’t necessarily part of the Flyers’ future, even though he is a rough-and-tumble top pairing defenseman.
Trading Ristolainen is complicated by the fact that he has this season, plus two more, remaining on a contracr with a $5.1 million salary cap hit. But Ristolainen is a desirable player.
“Some NHL teams looking to make additions to their defenses might covet Ristolainen’s term over a patchwork option,” Philadelphia Hockey Now’s Jonathan Bailey wrote. “As they can have a player with his specific traits and skillset to help compete for a Stanley Cup over the course of multiple seasons.”
