The Daily: Ex-Red Wings Player Traded; Husso Starts Today

Daniel Sprong, Red Wings

The Daniel Sprong experiment with the Vancouver Canucks lasted less than a month. The Canucks traded the former Red Wings forward to the Seattle Kraken Friday for future considerations.

Sprong signed a one-year $975,000 contract with the Canucks this summer after scoring 18 goals for Detroit.

Now, he’s returning to Seattle, where he was a 21-goal scorer in 2022-23. Sprong’s scoring touch is undeniable, but he has trouble staying in the lineup. He has played with six different teams, and usually spends some time on the bench as a healthy scratch.

NHL coaches don’t always appreciate his play away from the puck. Sprong has one goal and three points in nine games this season.
