Red Wings vs. Rangers: Notes, Lines, Goalies, How to Watch

Ville Husso, Red Wings

The Red Wings conclude their unofficial tour of the Original Six tonight when they play host to the New York Rangers. They beat Chicago on Wednesday and lost to Toronto Friday.

They’ll play tonight with Ville Husso in goal.  It will be his first game in net for the Wings since opening night, when he was pulled after giving up four goals in just over a period in a loss to the Penguins.

Husso had been in Grand Rapids after clearing waivers. He returned after Alex Lyon was ruled out of last night’s game at Toronto. He’s likely heading back to the Griffins next week, if Lyon is cleared to play. Still, tonight is a good chance for Husso to make a good impression down the line, when the trade deadline looms.

But that’s a long way off. Tonight, the Red Wings will have to solve a Rangers team that beat them twice in a home-and-home last month, outscoring them 9-3. It demonstrated the gap between a surefire playoff team and one still hoping to get there after missing the postseason the last eight years.
