Anthony-Mantha-Washington-Capitals

Monday turned out to be a bad day for a couple of former Detroit Red Wings. The Calgary Flames confirmed right wing Anthony Mantha will be out for the remainder of the season because of an ACL injury. He will have surgery on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Blackhawks placed Andreas Athanasiou on waivers. Athanasiou shows no points in five games this season.

Mantha had four goals and seven points in 13 games before going down with an injury. He suffered the injury last Tuesday in a 3-2 overtime win against Montreal. The Flames signed him to a $3.5 million one year deal in the offseason to play on a line with Jonathan Huberdeau (10 points in 16 games).

Red Wings In Case You Missed It

Detroit is second-to-last in NHL penalty killing. Bob Duff looks at how badly this is hurting the team.

Duff also believes that Red Berenson deserves Hall of Fame recognition for the impact he has had on hockey. He was both a player and coach with unique accomplishments.

Pavel Datsyuk hopes that Henrik Zetterberg will be joining him in the Hall of Fame at some point. It’s not difficult to build a strong case for Zetterberg.
