Red Wings at Ducks: Notes, Lines, Goalies, How to Watch

Published

on

Alex Lyon, Red Wings

The Red Wings spent Thursday recovering from their red-eye flight to California from Pittsburgh after their overtime win on Wednesday.

That wasn’t the plan, but the team couldn’t get enough hotel rooms in Pittsburgh to stay overnight. So off they went.

They’ll take on the Anaheim Ducks tonight in the first of three games in California.

The Ducks have struggled this season. They’ve lost four of their last five games and are the kind of team the Wings need to beat to fatten up their resume.

The Wings, meanwhile. are still working on their offense, which has been in a season-long slumber.

They’ll have Alex Lyon back on their bench tonight. Ville Husso went back to Grand Rapids after Wednesday’s game.

It looked as if tonight’s game would be a reunion with last year’s backup goalie, James Reimer.

Reimer signed with Buffalo in the offseason, then was waived by the Sabres and signed by the Ducks.

But Reimer was waived by the Ducks on Tuesday and signed by Buffalo, postponing a reunion for now.

It’s going to be a busy weekend for the Red Wings. They’ll play the Kings on Saturday, take Sunday off, then end the road trip in San Jose on Monday,.
