At a time when the Detroit Red Wings struggle to find the net, their Grand Rapid Griffins farm team is scoring in bunches.

The Griffins (11-3-1) downed the Milwaukee Admirals 4-2 Saturday for their fifth consecutive win. Grand Rapids has 23 goals (4.6 goals per game) during the streak. The goal scorers against Milwaukee included Detroit prospects Cross Hanas, Jakub Rychlovsky and Alex Doucet. Hanas boasts five goals this season.

Ville Husso made 30 saves to earn No. 1 star honors. He’s 4-0 this season with Grand Rapids, showing a 1.13 GAA and .961 save percentage.

The Griffins don’t play again until Friday at home against Iowa.

Coach Derek Lalonde’s team (7-9-1) desperately need a road win Saturday at San Jose. That would at least give them a 2-2 record on this four-game road trip. The team has given up 10 goals (including two empty netters) in losses to Anaheim and Los Angeles. The key question going into Monday’s game is whether defenseman Simon Edvinsson will play. He was injured later in Friday’s game and didn’t play against the Kings Saturday.
