His day began with collecting the secondary assist on a goal by Yaroslav Busygin to open the scoring. Next, Buchelnikov would score himself. Bursting into open space in the Severstal zone, Buchelnikov accepted a pass from linemate Derek Barach. Displaying a quick release, in one motion he was snapping a high shot into the net on the goaltender’s stick side. That goal made it 4-0 Vityaz.
Closing out his three-point day, Buchelnikov would draw another secondary assist on a goal by Ivan Chekhovich, his other linemate. That trio would combine for nine points during the rout.
