Husso Back With Red Wings
Lyon ailing with injury suffered Wednesday morning
Ville Husso is back with the Detroit Red Wings, evidently to fill in as backup goalie for an ailing Alex Lyon.
Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde gave an indication at Wednesday’s morning skate that Lyon tweaked something during the skate. Shortly thereafter, word came that the team was summoning NHL veteran Husso from the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins.

Cam Talbot is getting the start Wednesday at Little Caesars Arena against the Calgary Flames, one of his many former teams. It would appear that Husso will be backing him up.
Husso has made two starts for Detroit this season. He’s 0-2 with a 4.94 goals-against average and an .811 save percentage. He’s twice been sent down to Grand Rapids this season.
Husso Solid Performer For Griffins
At the AHL level, Husso is clearly finding his game. He has suited up for five games with the Griffins this season and has a 4-0-0 record with one shutout to go along with a 1.58 goals-against average and a .944 save percentage. In his six-game career with Grand Rapids since 2023-24, Husso has a 5-0-0 ledger with two shutouts, a 1.29 goals-against average and a .953 save percentage.
Last season, the 29-year-old Finn was limited to 19 NHL games with Detroit due to injury. He would show a 9-5-2 record with a 3.55 goals-against average and a .892 save percentage. He’s managed to play just one full NHL game over that past 11 months.
Husso made his Griffins debut last season on Jan. 26 during a conditioning stint, collecting a 25-save shutout over the Belleville Senators.
Kane Still Unable
Lalonde was also indicating that veteran forward Patrick Kane will again be idled by an upper-body injury. Kane was also missing in action for Monday’s 4-2 road victory against the New York Islanders.
They short sheeted his bed and drugged his wine but NO!
They couldn’t get rid of Ras-Husso!
I think its going to be Husso in goal against New Jersey. Yikes!
Serenity Now! 😬
