Detroit Red Wings
Red Wings vs. Flames: Notes, Lines, Goalies, How to Watch
The Detroit Red Wings won’t have the New York Islanders to kick around anymore this season, which is unfortunate.
The Wings swept the Islanders in their season series with a win on Wednesday and play host to the Calgary Flames tonight.
Unlike the Wings, who are near the bottom of the Eastern Conference, the Flames are in fourth place in the West.
Calgary will be playing its second game this week on the road, with stops in Columbus and Pittsburgh after the holiday.
The Flames lost at Ottawa on Monday, hampered by nine minor penalties.
The Red Wings, though, are near the bottom of the NHL in their penalty kill, which means the Flames may present either an opportunity or a challenge .
Patrick Kane will be out for the second game in a row, along with defenseman Erik Gustafsson.
Coach Derek Lalonde said this morning that Kane is closer to returning to the lineup but is still day-to-day.
Cam Talbot will start in goal, as expected, but Alex Lyon “tweaked something” (Lalonde’s words) and won’t be available. Ville Husso was recalled from Grand Rapids to be tonight’s backup.

Motte on the 2nd line?
Is Losey trying to lose? 😬
Why not give Bergy a shot?
Kasper should be 2C not 3C.
At least Gus is scratched.
