If you read Detroit Hockey Now’s comments, you know there is plenty of unrest among Detroit fans regarding where the Detroit Red Wings are headed. Many are dissatisfied with coach Derek Lalonde. Others point fingers at Steve Yzerman, or specific players.

But on Thanksgiving Day, 2025, there are reasons for Motown fans to give thanks about their hockey club:

Goaltending Depth

At 37, Cam Talbot isn’t a long-term solution. But the Red Wings are happy to have him locked in at a bargain $2.5 million cap hit for another season after this one. Talbot is a consistent performer who understands his profession and what it means to be a good teammate.
