Red Wings vs. Devils: Notes, Lines, Goalies, How to Watch
It’s back to work for the Red Wings today as they play host to the New Jersey Devils.
The matchup features a couple of team on different paths the first quarter of the season.
The Devils are second in the Eastern Conference, a point behind Carolina, while the Red Wings are tied with Columbus for 11th.
That has led to a lot of talk about the Red Wings’ chances of making the playoffs, citing research about the standings at Thanksgiving and how things end up in April.
It’s not an immutable law; the Red Wings missed the postseason last year after being in playoff position at the holiday.
And the Wings are only two points out of a playoff spot in the crowded Eastern Conference. They are showing some signs of life in sporting a two-game winning streak, and a win today would br quite a feather in their cap after a sometimes-sluggish results so far.
The Devils are coming off a 3-0 loss to St Louis on Monday prompting coach Sheldon Keefe to pronounce the effort as “not good enough.”
So, after an unappetizing loss and having to spend the holiday traveling and staying in a hotel, one suspects the Devils will be an angry bunch this afternoon.
Or, put another way, a test of the Wings and their winning streak.
