Devils Social Media Trolls Red Wings

Meme mocks Detroit gravy boat zamboni

Red Wings action
The Red Wings were being trolled on social media by the Devils after Friday's loss.

It wasn’t enough for the New Jersey Devils to beat the Detroit Red Wings. Then they had to pour salt in the wounds.

Or, to be more precise, pour out a gravy boat full of losses.

The Devils social media team on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, were ramping up the mocking memes following Friday’s 5-4 road victory over the Wings at Little Caesars Arena.

First, they took aim at the club’s recent gravy boat Zamboni promotion, which has proven to be a big hit with the Red Wings fanbase.

On the official New Jersey Devils site on X, they posted the video of the Zamboni gravy boat pouring out a heaping pile of Ls.

“It’s aLL gravy, baby,” read the post.

They even went as far as to pin the post, so it’s the first thing you see when you open the Devils feed.

As of late Friday evening, the post had been shared 24,300 times. It had over 900 likes and in excess of 140 reposts.

Red Wings Rasmussen Also Mocked

When Detroit beat New Jersey 5-3 at LCA on October 19, a photo of Red Wings forward Michael Rasmussen staring down and screaming at a fallen Jack Hughes following Rasmussen’s game-clinching empty-net goal was turned into a popular meme by Detroit fans.

Following Friday’s beating, the Devils social media team was also turning this one around. In their version, Rasmussen is seen screaming down angrily at a giant white L.

That Detroit win over New Jersey was extending a Red Wings win streak to a season-high three games. The Wings were also looking to extend a win streak to three games on Friday. In this instance, the Devils were thwarting those hopes.

And in case you didn’t notice, the scorer of the game-winning goal was none other than Jack Hughes.

NJ is a better team than Detroit is.

They have every right to gloat.

It’s harmless.

Should’ve had Losey driving the Zamboni. 🤣

I live in NJ. Good organization, but awful fans. Two people I know are lifelong season tickets holders and they say the same thing about their fans. They trash and bash every team in the NHL. And they never acknowledge great players (past and present) from any team. Only somewhat decent forum they have is one. Guys over there are pretty objective.

Thats my experience of NJ fans too. Loud, brash and obnoxious.

A Soprano’s character said it best. “Its a Jersey thing”.

Still I suppose what goes around comes around I guess. If one of their players had done to us what Ras did to Hughes, we’d be baying for some payback too. Dont get me wrong, I enjoyed Ras’ moment. But if you’re gonna dish it, you gotta be ready for the payback. It’s either that or dont throw stones if you want to keep the glass intact. The Wings should have been hungrier to win that game because it was inevitable they were going to go hard and wouldn’t take prisoners.

I hear ya. And I get that. It is more about the bashing and trashing of teams and players… past and present.

Gloat when you win something important, not beating the Dead Wings. Almost as sad as the Leafs being proud of winning one round in the playoffs. Clown move by NJD

It’s lame but it’s hilarious when an article is written about it.

Like, who cares?

Leafs always make me laugh.

You’d think they’ve won 10 consecutive Cups with the way their fanbase acts.

Always the best team when there’s no pressure on them.
