The Daily: Griffins Halt Monsters’ 10-Game Win Streak; Sabres Dip
The Grand Rapids Griffins continue to display the consistency that the Detroit Red Wings can’t find. The Griffins scored six goals for the first time this season to halt the Cleveland Monsters’ 10-game winning streak.
The Griffins dropped the Columbus Blue Jackets’ farm team 6-4 to end their franchise-record streak.
Goalie Sebastian Cossa posted 29 saves, while 2023 first-round pick Nate Danielson (one goal, plus an assist) and William Wallinder (two assists) both had multiple-point games. Defenseman Antti Tuomisto, another Detroit prospect, scored his first goal this season.
The Griffins are 14-5-0-1, good enough for first place in the AHL’s Central Division. This is the first time Grand Rapids has been in first place in December or later since 2018-19.
