Red Wings at Bruins: Notes, Lines, Goalies, How to Watch

Sebastian Cosa, Red Wings prospect

The Red Wings play their second of four games this week tonight in Boston, with more questions as the team continues to flounder.

The latest questions are in goal, with injuries and the call-up of Sebastian Cossa from Grand Rapids.

He’ll back up Ville Husso tonight, but beyond that, his status is uncertain.

Cossa was called up due to an injury to Cam Talbot, who left Sunday’s game with Vancouver in the second period.

Talbot’s partner in goal, Alex Lyon, is still sidelined with a lower-body injury and won’t make the trip to Boston and Ottawa. Neither goalie is on the road trip.

Husso hasn’t shown much this year, spending time in Grand Rapids and posting a 4.90 GAA in Detroit.

The only other goalie in Grand Rapids, Jack Campbell, has backed up Cossa in Grand Rapids since his return from the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program. He hasn’t played in a game this season, although that should change this weekend.

So besides a moribund penalty kill, a sluggish offense, and the constant speculation about his future, coach Derek Lalonde has plenty on his plate.

In other injury updates, Patrick Kane will be out tonight, although he has been practicing and may return Thursday in Ottawa, and Jeff Petry isn’t in the lineup tonight due to a lower-body injury. Defenseman William Lagesson was recalled from the AHL Griffins.

The Bruins, for their part, have won four of their first six games under new coach Joe Sacco, who replaced the fired Jim Montgomery last month. But they have their own concerns, especially on special teams.
