Red Wings at Senators: Notes, Lines, Goalies, How to Watch

The Red Wings conclude their short two-game road trip tonight with the first of four games this season against the Ottawa Senators.

The teams are on familiar paths this season. Both had hopes of being playoff contenders this season, but slow starts have put those plans in jeopardy.

The Senators are coming off a West Coast road trip that saw them go 2-2, while the Red Wings have lost three in a row, the last two in overtime.

For the Wings, the news is mostly status quo: Cam Talbot and Alex Lyon are out. while Patrick Kane, like Jeff Petry on Tuesday, will likely be a game-time decision.

Detroit is two points ahead of Ottawa in the Atlantic Division, three points out of a playoff spot in the crowded Eastern Conference race.

The Wings are still looking for that spark, one that can lift them above the pack at the bottom of the standings.

Detroit and Ottawa have a bit of a rivalry going, in that their games have been physical the last couple of seasons.

Ottawa won three of the four games last season, and the Red Wings have lost six of the last seven games in Ottawa.

Last season, the Red Wings and Washington Capitals tied for the eighth and final playoff spot, with the Caps advancing on a tiebreaker.,

This season, the Caps are nowhere near the Red Wings in the standings. They’re in first place.
