Detroit Red Wings
Red Wings at Flyers: Notes, Lines, Goalies, How to Watch
The Sebastian Cossa Era is over, for the Red Wings, at least for now.
Cossa was sent back to Grand Rapids on Thursday when Cam Talbot was activated.
The move wasn’t a surprise, and it was a nice story as Cossa was in net when the Wings snapped a five-game losing streak.
Talbot will likely start tonight when they take on the Flyers to end another two-game road stretch. They’ll play seven of their next eight games at home to end 2024.
The Flyers have 30 points, tied with Tampa Bay for eighth in the Eastern Conference.
The Red Wings have 26 points, tied with Buffalo for 14th in the East.
As disappointing as the Wings have been this season, they are just four points out of a playoff spot.
That’s one of the things that has Red Wings fans seething: The team can still make the playoffs, but have shown no inclination to take advantage of the opportunity.
It’s the first meeting of the season between the teams, and the first since the end of last season, when the Flyers lost to Washington, a result that lifted the Capitals to the playoffs over the Red Wings.
No hard feelings, according to Wings coach Derek Lalonde.
We’ll see how much brotherly love there will be after tonight’s game.
