Simon Edvinsson, Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings announced early in the second period that defenseman Simon Edvinsson would be out for the rest of the game with an upper body injury.

He didn’t return the bench for the second period of the home game against the Philadelphia Flyer.  He didn’t play the second half of the first period.

His last shift ended  at 10:52 of the first. On the shift before, Edvinsson was hit by Philadelphia defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen.  Edvinsson played 5:36 and was minus-1 in that first period.

Edvinsson’s play this season has been one of the strengths of the Detroit team. Playing in the first pairing with Moritz Seider, Edvinsson boasts three goals and 10 assists for 13 points. He also has a plus-6 rating. That’s the best plus-minus on the Detroit squad.
